old sonics are better games than new ones

Are the new Sonics like Sonic Adventure are better than the old ones just cause they got better graphics and an actual story?Think about it,the old Sonics give you way more challenge,there are underwater levels where you have to be fast so you won't drown it doesn't automaticly aim you at the enemies so it's better gameplay wise and isn't that what games are about?
