But you'd be able to only control the volume of the sound effects or the music with those buttons.

Don't know,in this pic they look like all the other buttons

Really don't know why they removed them cause people always could use some extra buttons,if they removed them cause of design then that's just disapointing.

Maybe they had the same function as the L2 and R2 buttons, as you can see there are only L1 and R1 on those prototypes...

I think they didn't had to remove these buttons even if there would be L2 and R2,extra buttons never killed anyone.
